However be aware that statistics show that 1 in 5 new drivers will be involved in an accident in the first year of driving.You will no doubt realize the limitations of your experience so far as a new driver. |
What is Pass Plus
The pass plus scheme provides new drivers with the important added ingredient - Experience
It offers driving experience in many new areas and the chance to improve your skills and confidence. It is designed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and supported by insurance companies and the driving instruction industry.
There are 6 modules including -

What are the main aims of Pass Plus
To further develop skills to plan and deal with all hazards safely
To help boost confidence about driving in unfamiliar situations
To encourage the driver to have a considerate attitude to other road users.
To reduce the risk of being involved in an accident.
So what is involved in Pass Plus Your driving instructor will cover the necessary information relating to each module. There is no test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed throughout. You must successfully complete all the modules to an 'achieved' or 'exceeded' standard. The course can be delivered in a variety of ways covering the modules in either 1,2 or 3 hour sessions | ![]() |
At the end of your pass plus course your instructor will fill in an assessment form and post this to the DSA. You will receive back a certificate of completion and this is accepted by many insurance companies who offer a discount that reflects the lower accident risk you now have. |
